Transformation of hope into action...

To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that humans are not only about cruelty, but also about compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to do when we are at our all time low (emotionally, monetarily, physically, etc) is what determines our lives. We can choose to brood/ cry/ curse over the happenings and get demotivated, or think about ways of getting out of the situation and working towards the better and a more promising future.

If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something, since we are surrounded by nothing but negative vibes. If we remember those times and places where people have behaved magnificently and succeeded while moving against the flow, despite all odds, that gives us the energy to think positive and act. And when we act with a positive frame of mind, half the battle is already won!

And if we do act, in however small a way, we do not have to wait for some grand future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory! Yes, hope is a big word. Be hopeful and have faith, inshallah... things will work!
