Finding a book store!

For all the readers out there!! This one goes for you! I was exploring a few book stores in Delhi, trying to find my copy of the latest release by Chetan Bhagat. After a few days of planning, a got up one fine Saturday, took a shower and went out in the blazing sun to Promenade mall in Vasant Kunj. It was a task getting to that place in this heat, and I was completely drenched in sweat before entering the Mall.

After a few minutes, when I cooled down, I went straight to OM book shop, searched for the required copy, met a friend there, chatted for a while, and I came back home. This all took some 3 and a half hours since the time I left home.

A few weeks later, I was telling my brother about my book shopping experience. That's when he suggested my to check out FriendsOfBooks (www.friendsofbooks.com). This is an online book rental and purchase company started by one of his friends. Arti Jain (my brother's school friend) and her husband, Manish Jain were both in US when they conceptualized this idea and soon after returning to India, they took off!

I checked out their website and found it to be pretty neat. Not only does it saves time, it saves the trouble of traveling to the book store in this heat, and making choices, something which i can happily do while sitting at my home! And the best part, they DO NOT have a time period before which I need to return the books, I can keep them as long as wish too, and as long as I am paying the monthly membership fee. I was really impressed by the idea. They also keep organizing events every 2 months.

I just want you guys to check it out, and if you like the service, subscribe to it. It's a pretty neat company providing excellent service. You can also check out their Facebook and Twitter pages.

Transformation of hope into action...

To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that humans are not only about cruelty, but also about compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to do when we are at our all time low (emotionally, monetarily, physically, etc) is what determines our lives. We can choose to brood/ cry/ curse over the happenings and get demotivated, or think about ways of getting out of the situation and working towards the better and a more promising future.

If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something, since we are surrounded by nothing but negative vibes. If we remember those times and places where people have behaved magnificently and succeeded while moving against the flow, despite all odds, that gives us the energy to think positive and act. And when we act with a positive frame of mind, half the battle is already won!

And if we do act, in however small a way, we do not have to wait for some grand future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory! Yes, hope is a big word. Be hopeful and have faith, inshallah... things will work!

This post has been inspired by a dear friend. Hope you are reading this :)

Here it goes! 180 to 200 in 6 hrs!

Okay, the much awaited day arrived, when I and Shashank (he's a school friend) went on and converted our Pulsar 180 CC bike to Pulsar 200!! The bike now run faster than a P-200 since it's on a 180 chassis which is lighter, has sprockets and chain set of 220 CC, jet size 130 and the cam shaft of a P-220!! Not to forget, the new timing chain and new clutch plates as well! Phew!

It all began when the bike started guzzling too much oil, which suggested that the piston rings must have worn out. The bright idea came to Shashank's mind, that since the piston rings anyway needs replacement, why not gift the bike with a brand new engine, since the engine anyway needs to be dismantled. It took us around 2 hrs to google out the service manuals of P 180 and P 200, quarter of a dozen trips to the hardware store to get the required tools, half a dozen trips to Karol Bagh to get the spares, gaskets, casings etc, and about a dozen of those famous "roshan di kulfi" of Karol Bagh to finally get all the required stuff to take the first step! And the result: we now have a P 200 with greater compression ratio (since only the piston and the bore got changed, the head is still the same), greater top speed (since we put smaller sprockets, the pickup reduced a little but the top spead increased. It touched 150 kmph!!), and more agility. It truly leaps like a cheetah now!! Check out the pics and the video!

Decided on the marketing roadmap

We have decided on the marketing roadmap for emagespro (www.emagespro.com) and the required efforts which needs to be put in. It was in the pipeline for a long time but it never took the priority. Now that we have defined the targets for everyone in the team and increased our team size as well, it's the best time to streamline our efforts. Which effectively means more busy weekdays and even busier weekends!!

Tanmoy and I will be leading the efforts for this. Ok, for the uninitiated, Tanmoy leads the marketing efforts for Emagespro. It's only because of his dedicated efforts that Emagespro has reached the level where it is today. We are pretty confident that our efforts will reap the desired results and we'll soon be able to see Emagespro as an emerging leader in providing quality digital marketing services.
